This piece is a rare, highly collectible vintage fashion item from Clara Studio Inc., founded in New York in April 1981 by the renowned designer team Clara Kasavina and Misha Berger.
Known for their high-end, statement-making runway style, their 1980s and 90s gold-tone costume jewelry exhibits an incredibly thick, organic, and sculptural texture modeled directly after European haute couture. In 2005, the Clara Kasavina - Berger brand was exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibition entitled Rara Avis (Rare Bird).
This bracelet is very heavy and the narrow end of the cuff measures 6 inches on the interior and the wider end of the cuff measures 7 inches. I took the photo in daylight and there were a lot of reflections both off of the black base that I used for several of these photos as well as window glare, etc. but this is in excellent condition. I didn’t see any areas of the gold plate wearing off, not even on the edges.
There is a small spot on the inside of the cuff where someone acid tested it. Please see the photo.
