Founded in 1953, they built on early DooWop and R&B successes to grow into a substantial label, launching the careers of artists like The Spaniels, Jimmy Reed, The Dells, Jerry Butler, The Impressions, Dee Clark, Gladys Knight,
Gene Chandler, Betty Everett, and Joe Simon.
