Payment authentication

When paying using a bank card, your bank might ask you to confirm your identity as an extra layer of payment security.

How it works

A pop-up screen from your bank might appear, asking you to pass an authentication check or provide some details, for example:

  • PIN code or password of your device
  • Code sent to you via an SMS
  • Hardware token
  • Fingerprint or face recognition

The exact authentication method depends on your payment method.

How to prepare for it

Please make sure that your contact details with your bank are correct. Also, familiarize yourself with the authentication method used by your bank – they should inform you about it.

Alternatively, you can avoid this extra step entirely by paying via Apple Pay or Google Pay. This payment method has a built-in authentication system and requires no further steps from the user.
