Choosing package size

When you’re listing an item, we’ll suggest a suitable shipping size for it. You’ll see any available shipping options and each carrier’s exact size and weight limits too.

To confirm that the suggested size is ok, you should measure your item and find the dimensions of the box or parcel you plan to ship your item in.

1. Measure your item

First, see if you can safely fold or disassemble your item to take up the least amount of shipping space. Then, place it on a flat surface and use a measuring tape or ruler to get its dimensions in length, width, and height.

If your item is an irregular shape, take measurements from the longest, widest, and highest parts.

2. Get suitable packaging

Use packaging that’s about the same size as your item — not too big or too small. Make sure that the item fits snugly inside and is protected with cushioning if needed.

3. Measure your parcel

Once you have the item packed, you can measure the parcel to double-check that it fits the recommended shipping sizes of your available carriers.

What if I choose the wrong size?

Some carriers may allow you to get a larger parcel size at no extra cost. However, it’s best to make sure your parcel is the right size in case the carrier can’t ship it or charges extra for shipping.

Note that once a buyer checks out and purchases shipping for an order, the parcel size and carrier can’t be changed.

What if my item is too big or heavy?

If an item is over the maximum size or weight limits of the shipping options available, you’ll need to arrange your own shipping option instead.

Check if another shipping provider can send your item and confirm the shipping price. Then, you can upload your listing with custom shipping on Vinted.
