Inspired by one of my favourite books on love ‘A Lover’s Discourse: Fragments’ by a French philosopher, Roland Barthes, as a photographer years ago, I created a series of photographs which I called ‘Fragments’ (when, appropriately, I lived in Paris).
I loved this work, and I still have three prints made in the darkroom at home with the most beautiful grain taking up all the space in the frame. Little intimate encounters that capture on paper this beautiful dance between silver and light (they are silver gelatin prints made from 35mm black and white negative). You can see the originals on the second picture - these are not currently for sale.
In my personal archive, I still have postcards from this project as part of my former online shop.
Any fellow Barthes fans on here? These are for you!
