Roll of 40 1942-1945 World War 2 US silver war nickels UNDER MELT
During WW2, nickel was a critical material for weapons and armor so the US mint replaced the usual coin materials with 35% silver, 56% copper and 9% manganese. These are the only silver nickels issued by the US mint with each nickel containing over 1/20 ozt of silver.
