A gorgeous old original antique ukiyo-e Japanese woodblock triptych print by the prominent artist Utagawa Kunisada (also known as Toyokuni III). The print depicts five different individuals, along with a snow monkey. One man listens in behind a divider while one woman holds a samurai sword near her waist, one plays a shamisen while sitting on the floor, and another woman tends to a child and snow monkey. The woodblock print dates circa 1854. There is the artist's insignia on each of the three sections of the triptych as well as continued Japanese calligraphy throughout, indicating what is happening in the print. Overall dimensions of the frame are approximately 32'' x 17.25''. Dimensions of the image are approximately 28'' x 13''. There is various creasing and small stains due to age. Please refer to all images. Utagawa Kunisada, also known as Utagawa Toyokuni III, was the most popular, prolific and commercially successful designer of ukiyo-e woodblock prints in 19th-century Japan.
